Welcome to Your New Life in Christ

You've taken the most important step of your life. We're here to walk with you on this incredible journey of faith, hope, and love.

Stories of Hope

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Begin Your Journey

Starting your walk with Christ is the beginning of an amazing adventure. Here are some first steps to help you grow:

Read God's Word

The Bible is God's love letter to you. Start with the Gospel of John to learn about Jesus.

Talk to God

Prayer is simply talking to God. Share your heart, your fears, your joys — He wants to hear it all.

Find Community

Connect with other believers in a local church. You weren't meant to walk this journey alone.

Accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour

If you're ready to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ, pray this prayer from your heart. God knows your heart and hears you when you call on Him.

A Prayer of Salvation

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You today recognizing that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, and that He died on the cross for my sins and rose again on the third day. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead. I turn away from my sins and invite Jesus to come into my heart and life. I want to trust You as my Saviour and follow You as my Lord from this day forward. Guide me in Your truth and help me to live a life that honors You. Thank You for loving me, forgiving me, and giving me eternal life. I am now Your child, and I am so grateful. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

What Does This Mean?

When you sincerely pray to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, something incredible happens:
  • You are forgiven — All your sins, past, present, and future, are washed away by Jesus' sacrifice.
  • You are adopted — You become a child of God, part of His eternal family.
  • You receive eternal life — You have the promise of heaven and a relationship with God that lasts forever.
  • The Holy Spirit lives in you — God's Spirit comes to guide, comfort, and empower you.
  • You are a new creation — Your old life is gone; you have a fresh start and a new identity in Christ.

Common Questions

What just happened? +
You just made the most important decision of your life! You've entered into a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Your sins are forgiven, and you now have eternal life. The Bible says that all of heaven rejoices when one person comes to Christ (Luke 15:7). Welcome to God's family!
What if I don't feel different? +
Salvation is based on faith, not feelings. Feelings can change from day to day, but God's promise never changes. The Bible assures us that when we believe in Jesus, we are saved (Romans 10:9). Trust in God's Word, not your emotions. As you grow in your relationship with Christ, you'll begin to notice changes in your desires, attitudes, and actions.
What if I sin again? +
Becoming a Christian doesn't mean you'll never sin again — we all still struggle with sin. The difference is that you now have the Holy Spirit to help you resist temptation, and when you do sin, you can confess it to God and receive His forgiveness (1 John 1:9). God's grace is greater than any sin. He doesn't give up on you, and His love never fails.
How can I be sure I'm saved? +
Your assurance comes from God's promises in the Bible, not from your feelings or performance. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." If you've believed in Jesus and accepted Him as your Saviour, you are saved. God's Word is true and trustworthy.

Moving Forward in Christ

Congratulations on beginning your journey with Jesus! Here are practical steps to help you grow in your new faith.

Read the Bible Daily

The Bible is God's Word to you. Start with the Gospel of John to learn about Jesus' life and teachings. Then explore the book of Romans to understand salvation more deeply. Learn More →

Getting Started with Bible Reading

Where to Begin: Start with the Gospel of John (chapters 1-21). It's written specifically to help people believe in Jesus. Daily Habit: Set aside 10-15 minutes each day. Morning is great, but any consistent time works. Read a chapter or even just a few verses, then think about what God is saying to you. Helpful Tips:
  • Use a modern translation like NIV, NLT, or ESV for easier understanding
  • Keep a journal to write down what you learn
  • Ask questions — it's okay not to understand everything at first
  • Pray before reading, asking God to speak to you
Reading Plan: Week 1-2: Gospel of John | Week 3-4: Book of Romans | Week 5-6: Gospel of Mark | Week 7-8: Book of Ephesians

Pray Every Day

Prayer is simply talking with God. Share your thoughts, fears, joys, and needs with Him. He loves hearing from you and wants a relationship with you. Learn More →

How to Pray

Prayer doesn't have to be complicated or formal. God wants to hear your authentic heart. Here's a simple pattern to help you get started: A Simple Prayer Pattern (ACTS):
  • Adoration: Tell God what you love about Him ("God, You are loving and faithful...")
  • Confession: Admit your sins and ask for forgiveness ("I'm sorry for...")
  • Thanksgiving: Thank God for His blessings ("Thank You for...")
  • Supplication: Ask for what you and others need ("Please help me with...")
Daily Prayer Ideas:
  • Morning: Thank God for the new day and ask for His guidance
  • Mealtime: Thank God for providing food
  • Evening: Reflect on the day and share your heart with God
  • Anytime: Talk to God throughout your day like a friend

Finding the Right Church

What to Look For:
  • Teaches the Bible as God's Word
  • Preaches about Jesus and salvation through Him alone
  • Has a welcoming, loving community
  • Offers opportunities to serve and grow
  • Practices baptism and communion
Getting Connected:
  • Visit several churches to find the right fit
  • Introduce yourself to the pastor or a greeter
  • Attend a newcomers' class or small group
  • Don't expect perfection — churches are full of imperfect people growing together
Why Church Matters: The Bible teaches that believers need each other (Hebrews 10:25). Church provides encouragement, accountability, teaching, and opportunities to serve God and others.

Get Baptized

Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus. It symbolizes your old life being washed away and your new life in Christ beginning. Learn More →

Understanding Baptism

What is Baptism? Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change. When you're baptized, you're publicly declaring that you've died to your old life and been raised to new life in Christ (Romans 6:3-4). When Should I Be Baptized? Jesus commanded His followers to be baptized (Matthew 28:19). In the Bible, people were baptized soon after believing in Jesus. There's no need to wait until you're "good enough" — baptism is about what Jesus has done, not what you've done. What Happens During Baptism? Most churches practice baptism by immersion (being fully placed under water and brought back up). The pastor or church leader will guide you through the process. You may have the opportunity to share your testimony (your story of coming to faith in Jesus). Next Step: Talk to your pastor or church leader about being baptized. They'll be excited to help you take this important step!

Find Community

Join a small group or Bible study where you can build deep friendships with other believers. We need each other for encouragement and accountability. Learn More →

The Importance of Christian Community

Why Community Matters: God designed us to live in relationship with others. Christian community provides:
  • Encouragement when you're struggling
  • Accountability to help you grow
  • Prayer support during difficult times
  • Friendship and belonging
  • Opportunities to use your gifts to serve others
Finding Your Community:
  • Join a small group or Bible study at your church
  • Attend church events and social gatherings
  • Volunteer in a ministry area that interests you
  • Be open and authentic — let people get to know the real you
Being a Good Community Member: Show up consistently, be vulnerable about your struggles, celebrate others' victories, and be willing to serve and support others in their journey.

Find a Church

Connecting with a local, Bible-believing church is one of the most important steps in your faith journey. Here's how to find the right church for you.

How to Find a Church

Search Online

Search for "Bible-believing churches near me" or "Christian churches in [your city]". Check church websites to learn about their beliefs and service times.

Ask for Recommendations

If you know other Christians, ask them about their church. Personal recommendations are often the best way to find a welcoming community.

Visit Several Churches

Don't feel pressured to commit to the first church you visit. Try a few different churches to find where you feel God is leading you.

What to Look For in a Church

  • Biblical Teaching: The church should teach from the Bible and believe it is God's Word.
  • Jesus-Centered: The focus should be on Jesus Christ and salvation through Him alone.
  • Welcoming Community: You should feel welcomed and valued, not judged or excluded.
  • Opportunities to Grow: Look for Bible studies, small groups, and discipleship programs.
  • Active Service: The church should serve the community and provide ways for you to use your gifts.
  • Worship: The worship style should help you connect with God (styles vary — find what resonates with you).

Tips for Your First Visit

Before You Go

  • Check the church website for service times and location
  • Arrive 10-15 minutes early to find parking and get oriented
  • Dress comfortably — most churches are casual, but some are more formal
  • Bring a Bible if you have one (many churches provide them)

During the Service

  • Don't worry if you don't know the songs or when to stand/sit — just follow along
  • It's okay to take notes during the sermon
  • You don't have to give money in the offering — that's for members
  • Introduce yourself to someone nearby or a greeter

After the Service

  • Visit the welcome desk or information booth
  • Ask about newcomer classes or small groups
  • Get contact information so you can follow up with questions
  • Give yourself time to decide — visit a few times before committing

Online Church Option

While we strongly encourage finding a local church for in-person community, we understand that circumstances may make that difficult. Here are some reputable online church options:
  • Life.Church Online: Interactive online services with chat and prayer support
  • Saddleback Church Online: Live and on-demand services with small group connections
  • Elevation Church Online: Engaging worship and teaching with online community

Note: Online church is a great supplement, but it shouldn't replace in-person fellowship when possible. God designed us to gather together physically (Hebrews 10:25).

Resources for New Believers

Here are helpful resources to strengthen your faith and deepen your relationship with Jesus.

Beginner's Bible Reading Plan

This 8-week plan will introduce you to the core teachings of Christianity and help you understand who Jesus is.

Week 1-2: The Life of Jesus

Read: Gospel of John, chapters 1-21 Focus: Learn about Jesus' life, teachings, miracles, death, and resurrection. This book was written specifically so people would believe in Jesus.

Week 3-4: Understanding Salvation

Read: Book of Romans, chapters 1-16 Focus: Understand sin, grace, salvation, and what it means to live as a Christian. This is the most systematic explanation of the Gospel in the Bible.

Week 5-6: Jesus' Ministry Begins

Read: Gospel of Mark, chapters 1-16 Focus: See Jesus in action — His power, compassion, and mission. Mark is the shortest Gospel and moves quickly through Jesus' ministry.

Week 7-8: Your New Identity

Read: Book of Ephesians, chapters 1-6 Focus: Discover who you are in Christ and how to live out your new identity. Learn about spiritual blessings and practical Christian living.

Reading Tips: Read one chapter per day. Don't rush — it's better to read slowly and understand than to read quickly and forget. Pray before reading and ask God to speak to you.

How to Pray

Prayer is Conversation with God

Prayer doesn't have to be formal or complicated. God wants to hear your authentic heart. Here's a simple model to help you pray:

The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13)

"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."

Breaking It Down:

  • Worship: Begin by praising God for who He is
  • Surrender: Ask for God's will to be done in your life
  • Provision: Ask God to meet your daily needs
  • Forgiveness: Confess your sins and forgive others
  • Protection: Ask God to guide and protect you from evil

Remember: God cares more about your heart than your words. Be honest, be yourself, and talk to Him throughout your day.

Essential Articles

Who is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to earth as a human to save us from our sins. He lived a perfect life, died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, and rose from the dead three days later, proving His power over sin and death. Jesus is fully God and fully human. He is the only way to have a relationship with God the Father (John 14:6). Through faith in Jesus, we receive forgiveness, eternal life, and the Holy Spirit to guide us. Key Verses: John 1:1-14, Colossians 1:15-20, Philippians 2:5-11

What is the Gospel?

The Gospel (which means "good news") is the message that God loves us and wants a relationship with us, but our sin separates us from Him. The penalty for sin is death, but God sent His Son Jesus to die in our place. When we believe in Jesus and accept His sacrifice, our sins are forgiven and we receive eternal life. We are saved by grace through faith, not by our own good works (Ephesians 2:8-9). The Gospel in Four Points:
  • God: God created us to be in relationship with Him
  • Man: We sinned and broke that relationship
  • Christ: Jesus died and rose again to restore the relationship
  • Response: We must believe in Jesus and follow Him
Key Verses: Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9-10

Understanding Baptism

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. It's a public declaration that you have died to your old life and been raised to new life in Christ (Romans 6:3-4). Baptism doesn't save you — only faith in Jesus saves. But Jesus commanded His followers to be baptized (Matthew 28:19), and it's an important step of obedience that shows the world you belong to Christ. What Baptism Symbolizes:
  • Going under the water = dying to your old life and being buried with Christ
  • Coming up from the water = being raised to new life in Christ
  • Public declaration = telling others you are a follower of Jesus
When to Be Baptized: In the Bible, people were baptized soon after believing in Jesus. There's no need to wait until you're "perfect" — baptism is about what Jesus has done, not what you've done. Key Verses: Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38, Romans 6:3-4, Colossians 2:12
